UPDATE: Governor Pritzker Modifies and Extends Stay-At-Home Order
On April 23, 2020, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that the Stay-At-Home Order, which was set to expire on April 30th, will be extended through May31st. In addition to extending the Stay-At-Home Order, the new executive order will include some modifications that may affect you.
First, the modified order includes new businesses as essential. Starting May 1st, greenhouses, garden centers, nurseries and animal grooming services may open their doors so long as they follow social distancing requirements and require their employees and customers to wear a face covering. Additionally, retail stores not designated as non-essential businesses and operations may re-open to fulfill telephone and online orders through pick-up outside the store and delivery.
Second, essential businesses and manufacturers will be required to provide face-coverings to all employees who are not able to maintain social distancing requirements. Additionally, in order to maximize social distancing and prioritize the well-being of employees and customers, essential businesses will be required to follow new requirements including occupancy limits, staggering shifts, and operating only essential lines for manufacturers.
Third, beginning on May 1st, individuals will be required to wear a face-covering when in a public place where they can not maintain a six-foot social distance. This requirement applies to all individuals over the age of two who are able to medically tolerate a face-covering or a mask.
Finally, Governor Pritzker’s modified order provides the Department of Natural Resources with the authority to begin re-opening state parks in phases. In addition to state parks opening, individuals will be permitted to begin fishing, boating, and golfing.
